Favourite Restaurants in Bangkok

We thought we would do something a bit different for this post as it has only been a little over a week since our last update. Today we are sharing some of our favourite restaurants in Bangkok. Note that these are venues that we dine at regularly so they are mostly in the Nana/Sukhumvit area, as that is where we find ourselves staying most of the time.

Krua Khun Puk

Krua Khun Puk is a popular Thai noodle restaurant. Their specialty is stewed pork noodles which costs THB50 (about AUD$2.35). It is located on Sukhumvit Soi 11/1, close to the Nana BTS station. They have a large menu so we still have a lot of things to try.

Pork Khao Soi – THB80
Pad Krapow Moo – THB80
Pineapple Fried Rice – THB120

Swan Restaurant

Swan Restaurant is on the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 4 and Sukhumvit 6 Alley and provides the meals for the Bangcockney Bar (so we find ourselves eating their food quite regularly). They have a broad menu of mostly Thai dishes with some western meals available. Prices start at THB80 (about AU$3.75). We usually have their Thai dishes, but the club sandwich is good for a light lunch.

Vesuvio

We are fortunate to have two very good wood fired pizza restaurants very close to where we usually stay in Bangkok. The first is Vesuvio. Their pizzas start at THB300 (about AU$14), and they have a happy hour where you can get a pizza and softdrink for THB400 (AU$18.79). Our favourite is the Spicy Anchovy pizza. Sometimes they provide a complimentary limoncello.

Otto Pizza

The second wood fired pizza restaurant is Otto Pizza. Their pizzas start at THB320 (about $15) and while the venue is quite small, their pizzas can be ordered from the bar next door – Tipsy Tap.

Napoli Pizza – THB390

Amritsr

Our favourite Indian restaurant that we have found so far is Amritsr Restaurant on Soi 11. They have almost 6000 reviews on Google Maps, and I was really expecting that they were incentivising for reviews. This was not the case and we have found both their service and the quality of their meals to be exceptional.

Chilli Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala and Steamed Rice – THB530

Kinnaree

We first discovered Kinnaree when we were in Bangkok in 2019 and fell in love with their boiled rice soup (Khao Tom), which is a popular Thai breakfast meal. We rediscovered them when we first arrived in Bangkok in December and have been frequenting them for breakfast or brunch ever since. Our favourite dishes are boiled rice soup with chicken and rice porridge with pork, both are THB115 (about AU$5.40).

Thai Omelette – THB85

Salad Factory

When we are after a healthier meal option, we head to Salad Factory in Terminal21 at Asoke. They have a large menu of salads and wraps and are reasonably priced.

Healthy Salad with Sweet Basil Dressing – THB140

7-Eleven

A favourite option for a quick snack on the go is a ham and cheese toastie from 7-Eleven. 7-Eleven stores are everywhere in Bangkok (and Thailand) and they all have a sandwich toaster behind the counter to heat them up for you. They cost THB29 each (AU$1.36), so make a great value for money snack.

Mango Sticky Rice

Bernii’s favourite mango sticky rice from a street cart on Soi 8 costs THB60 (AU$2.80).

Tomorrow we head our separate ways for two weeks apart… Bernii is returning to the beaches in Hoi An and Da Nang, and I am heading to Nepal to go trekking in the Langtang Valley. Stay tuned for our separate blog posts for those adventures.
