Thailand Revisited (Again)

We flew back into Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on the 5th of May and returned to the Ibis Bangkok Sukhumvit 4 hotel (AU$72.74 per night). Two days later, a friend from Brisbane arrived and we spent the following few days between Tipsy Tap, the Bangcockney and other nearby bars.

On the 12th of May, we flew to Phuket where we returned to Karon beach, staying at Oceanview Bungalows by EAT (AU$54.50 per night).

We reunited with our friends at Montana Bar and spent time at Neptuna Bar and SKA Bar on Kata Beach. We also caught a taxi to Rawai Beach where we found Sam Garden, a nice little open air bar overlooking the water. We were able to order food (wood-fired pizzas and fresh oysters) from the nearby restaurants and enjoy it at our table. We returned multiple times during our time at Karon.

After six nights at Oceanview Bungalows, we caught a taxi to Kamala Beach, where we stayed at the Kamala Resotel (AU$55.97 per night). We were there for three nights, and it rained almost the entire time. We bunkered down at Good Times Restaurant & Bar, a nice bar run by an Englishman. The food was great, the beer was cold, and they opened early, so we spent most of our time there.

After three rainy days in Kamala, we returned to Oceanview Bungalows at Karon for six more days of mostly sunny weather, before flying back to Bangkok.

My dad had flown to Bangkok two days earlier so we reunited at the Ibis Styles Bangkok Sukhumvit 4 (AU$64.70 per night), and spent the week exploring the local area. We also went on a Hidden Bangkok Tours Old Waterways Canal Tour (our third time), where we spent two hours on a boat cruising through the canals to the Chao Phraya River and our stop at Tah Tian Pier where we then caught a tuk-tuk back to our hotel.

Dad flew home on the 2nd of June and we spent the next 12 days catching up with friends and enjoying Bangkok for the second-last time of our trip. We discovered some really good local Thai restaurants, including Nak Klam Noodles, and Aroy Rim Tang.

On Monday night we will escape the impending wet season and will fly to our next new country, Türkiye.
